Shane Staley began his publishing career in 1995, shortly after leaving college. During his college years, his fiction was published in a number of fanzines including Frightmares, Outer Darkness and Scavenger’s Newsletters. During those formative years, he appeared in ‘zines alongside such authors as Greg F. Gifune, Kurt Newton, Michael Laimo, Ronald Malfi, Jeffrey Thomas, Gerard Houarner, Charlee Jacob and many other authors who were just beginning their careers.
When he eventually started his first publishing company, Delirium Books, in 1999, he reached out to the many talented authors who were being published in those ‘zines to publish their first full-length book projects. The rest is, as they say, independent press history, as Delirium became one of the top indie publishing companies in the world.
